jami

Jami playing a tune.

I love painting botanicals on flowing linen dresses. I put tender loving care and infuse good vibes into each garment for the beautiful blue fish ladies!

Hiking, biking and snowboarding are my passions in life. I just love the great outdoors and enjoy being one with nature.

I have an obsession with what I call “gas station t-shirts” and interesting fascination with unicorns. In fact have a couple of shirts with the mythical creatures on them I picked up from the famous I-80 truck stop (the biggest truck stop in America) I can’t help but smile every time I put one on.

I do believe in unicorns…
I spend my free time downloading and watching nerdy shows, thinking too much, planning what’s next…perhaps more pet portraits??
and hanging with my dog and parrot.  My favorite prints to work on are the gallery t-shirts, & gallery geishas.

Natalia and her blue dress.

The resurfacing themes in my work are contrast and harmony. The satisfaction of creation is in the subtle juxtaposition and intertwining of those elements. They always lead me to an unfolding of the piece that simultaneously serves as a catalyst for personal evolutional and creative growth.

Outside of Blue Fish I work as a portrait artist from my home studio. When I’m not painting, I am usually poring over the work of other artists. I love learning new techniques and I can always find inspiration and a fresh perspective by looking at great paintings, designs, and illustrations. Two of my favorite contemporary artists are Joe Sorren, whose work is whimsical and surreal & Malcolm Liepke a provocative figurative painter.

Unicorns are real.

An artist’s block…ready to print!

The print goes in an inconspicuous spot under the hem of this tank.

A very subtle bunny just above the hem.

A collection of our artist’s signature blocks. There’s that bunny!
